Your Guide to Made-to-Measure Suits: Prices, Fabrics, Fittings & Timing

URBBANA Journal · Your made-to-measure guide

A suit built around your brief.

Understand the process, choose your cloth and know what to expect before your first appointment.

Whether you are planning a wedding, building a working wardrobe or commissioning something personal, made-to-measure begins with how you want the garment to look, feel and function. This guide explains URBBANA’s service, current price tiers and fitting process so you can arrive with a clear starting point.

01 · Understand the service

What made-to-measure means

URBBANA offers made-to-measure tailoring: a base pattern is adjusted around your measurements, proportions and design choices. The process combines personal styling and measurement with choices about cloth, garment configuration and finishing details.

That is different from traditional bespoke, in which an individual pattern is drafted from scratch. It is also different from buying an existing ready-to-wear suit and altering it. Each route has its place; the useful question is which one suits your fit requirements, budget, timing and preferred level of choice.

At URBBANA, the fitting after production is carried out on the completed garment. It is not a traditional unfinished or basted bespoke fitting. Final alterations can be arranged where refinement is needed.

02 · Decide whether MTM is right for you

Begin with the reason you need the suit

For a wedding

You may want a specific colour, a coordinated wedding party or a design that reflects the venue and celebration. Bring the dress code, date and visual references.

For regular work

You may want dependable proportions, a practical fabric and a design you can wear often. Talk about your commute, office environment and how frequently the suit will be used.

For fit preferences

You may find that standard sizes do not give you the balance or ease you prefer. Explain what usually feels wrong, and bring examples if you have them.

For a personal design

You may want a distinctive cloth, lining, lapel or ceremonial look. Share the idea early so the team can confirm what is achievable within your budget and timing.

If you need a suit very soon and a ready-to-wear option already fits well, discuss that route too. Made-to-measure requires time for production, a delivery fitting and any final refinement. It is a considered order, not an instant alternative.

03 · The process

From first conversation to final fitting

1. Consultation. Discuss the occasion, your personal style, the climate, how often you will wear the suit, your budget and the date you need it. A useful brief is specific: an outdoor afternoon wedding creates different priorities from a suit worn several days a week in an office.

2. Cloth and design. Compare the available fabric books and choose a two-piece or three-piece configuration. Work through the cut, lapel, lining, buttons and finishing details. Your stylist confirms the selected cloth, construction category, inclusions and quote before the order proceeds.

3. Measurements and proportions. The team records your measurements and fit preferences for the made-to-measure order. Be clear about comfort, movement and how close you want the silhouette to sit. A reference photograph is useful, but the final balance should work on your body.

4. Production. The garment is cut and sewn in Turkey or Italy according to the selected category. Fabric origin and garment construction location are separate facts: Italian cloth does not automatically mean the suit itself is made in Italy.

5. Delivery fitting. Try on the completed suit at URBBANA. The team reviews how it sits and can arrange final alterations if required. Bring the shoes and shirt you intend to wear so the trouser hem, sleeve relationship and overall outfit can be assessed together.

04 · Allow enough time

Plan around the fitting, not just production

URBBANA’s published standard turnaround is approximately four to six weeks. The store recommends beginning at least six weeks before the garment is required, allowing for the delivery fitting and any final alterations.

For a fixed event date, starting earlier gives more room for decisions and scheduling. Larger wedding parties and complex ceremonial designs should begin earlier where possible. Tell the team the actual event date, along with any travel date that means you need the suit sooner.

Rush orders may be accommodated depending on cloth and production availability. Treat that as something to confirm directly, not a guaranteed service. Obtain the expected delivery timing before committing to the order.

05 · Budget clearly

Current made-to-measure suit pricing

Published URBBANA pricing checked 13 October 2026. All prices AUD.
Suit Fabric tier Price Construction
Two-piece URBBANA house / standard fabrics From $1,900 Turkey

Three-piece Selected Zegna, Holland & Sherry, Loro Piana or Marzoni fabrics $4,390 Italy

The $2,395 house-fabric three-piece does not include Piacenza or Vitale Barberis Canonico. Those mills sit within the selected premium Italian tier at $2,700 for a two-piece and $3,295 for a three-piece.

Fabric selection, construction category and inclusions must be confirmed in your quote. The table reflects the published service information at the date shown; use the current pricing page and your consultation for the final order price.

The source page lists half-canvas or full-canvas made-to-measure jacket construction, depending on the category, rather than fused construction. Ask which construction applies to your chosen order and how it relates to the feel and structure you prefer.

Custom hand-beaded jackets are quoted separately, starting from $2,500. More complex designs may be approximately $5,000–$6,000 depending on the brief. Ready-to-wear embellished garments are a separate purchase category.

06 · Choose the cloth

Start with use, then consider the cloth book

A fabric name is only one part of the decision. Explain whether the suit is for occasional wear or frequent rotation, whether you spend time outdoors, and how much structure or drape you prefer. Compare actual swatches and discuss the weight, texture and care needs of the options available.

For a first versatile suit, consider a restrained colour such as navy or charcoal if it suits your intended setting. For a daytime or destination wedding, lighter colours may fit the brief, but assess them against the venue, light and dress code rather than choosing from a screen alone.

Look at a cloth in more than one light where possible. Small swatches can feel different when imagined across an entire jacket and trouser. Your stylist can help translate a colour reference into a cloth that works as a complete garment.

Choose details in an order that keeps the design coherent: purpose, fabric, silhouette, then lapels, pockets, lining and buttons. Too many unrelated statements can distract from a well-balanced suit.

07 · Fit with movement

A good fitting is more than a front-on photograph

Stand naturally rather than correcting your posture for the mirror. Sit down, walk and move your arms in a way that reflects normal wear. Tell the stylist where the garment feels restricted or overly loose instead of describing everything simply as too big or too small.

Review the shoulder line, how the collar sits, the balance of the jacket front and the room through the chest and seat. Check trouser comfort when seated and how the hem falls over the actual shoes you plan to wear.

Close-fitting does not automatically mean well-fitting. A suit should create the line you want while allowing normal movement. Discuss your preference clearly, especially if reference photographs show a very close silhouette.

If your size or proportions change between the first appointment and delivery, tell the team promptly. Existing measurements can support future orders, but they should be reviewed when your body or fit preferences change.

08 · Prepare for the appointment

Bring a useful brief

  • Your event date and any earlier travel deadline.
  • The venue, season, dress code and whether the event is indoors or outdoors.
  • A realistic budget and whether you want two or three pieces.
  • A few reference photographs, including what you like about each.
  • Your intended shirt and shoes where possible.
  • A suit you already own if it helps explain a fit problem or preference.
  • Wedding-party numbers, colours and scheduling needs if relevant.

Before placing the order, confirm the exact fabric, garment configuration, construction location, price, included services and expected timing. Ask how any final alterations will be handled so the process is clear.

URBBANA retains measurements and order specifications for future orders unless deletion is requested. A repeat order can begin with that information, but still discuss the new occasion and any changes in fit.

09 · Weddings and personal briefs

Coordinate the group without losing the individual

For a wedding party, begin with a common visual direction: formality, palette and the role of the groom’s outfit. The suits can feel connected without every person needing the same proportions or every accessory being identical.

URBBANA’s published service includes fittings for men and women across varied sizes and proportions, as well as selected ceremonial and cultural-wedding briefs. Discuss jacquards, expressive fabrics or hand-beaded designs early so their availability and production needs can be confirmed.

Plan fittings around the people who need to attend, not just the final wedding date. If members of the party live elsewhere, raise that at the first consultation so the team can advise on a workable arrangement.

Your questions, answered

Is URBBANA’s service bespoke?

It is made-to-measure: a base pattern is adjusted around measurements and design choices. It is not traditional bespoke pattern drafting from scratch.

How much does it start at?

The published starting point is AUD $1,900 for a two-piece suit in house or standard fabric. Confirm the exact cloth, inclusions and final quote at your consultation.

How many fittings are involved?

The process begins with consultation and measurement, followed by a completed-garment delivery fitting. Final alterations can be arranged where needed; the exact follow-up depends on the garment.

Are all suits made in Italy?

No. The listed categories are constructed in Turkey except the $4,390 luxury-fabric three-piece category, which is listed as constructed in Italy. Confirm the construction location for your order.

Can I order for an urgent event?

Ask the team. Rush orders depend on cloth and production availability and should be confirmed before you rely on a deadline.
